Alexandre Castro Caldas was a Full Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon and Director of the Neurology Service at Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon. In 2004, he became director of the Institute of Health Sciences, where he laid the foundations for the creation of the Integrated Master in Medicine, now in activity. He is currently the Coordinator of the National Council for the Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
He was also president of the Portuguese Society of Neurology between 1989-1992 and chaired the International Neuropsychological Society between 2001-2002.
He is the author of more than 200 scientific articles and chapters and some books on Brain Sciences.
Among the awards received, we highlight the Grande Prémio BIAL de Medicina and the Distinguished Career Award from the International Neuropsychological Society.
