Today, the BIAL Foundation celebrates 29 years of activity in three areas with the aim of stimulating new discoveries and contributing to the improvement of human life: the attribution of Awards, the Grants Programmes for Scientific Research and the “Behind and Beyond the Brain” Symposia.
In 1994, supported by BIAL, together with the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, the BIAL Foundation began its mission to foster the scientific study of human being from both the physical and spiritual perspectives.
Almost three decades later, founder and chairman Luís Portela emphasizes that the BIAL Foundation “wishes to continue a discreet but effective patronage activity of support and encouragement to researchers and health professionals, in Portugal and the world”. Without losing focus on the excellence and rigor of research, the Foundation “will pursue its purpose of stimulating knowledge and wisdom that allow human beings to live better, using all their potential and respecting Universal Laws”.
Since its creation, the BIAL Foundation has developed a close relationship with the international scientific community. Among the researchers supported by the BIAL Foundation, is worth highlighting the presence of scientists from prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, France, Spain, Australia and Japan, among many others. “Our geographic scope is global”, declares Luís Portela, stressing that the Foundation will continue to “award the most outstanding scientific works and support the best research in Neurosciences and Parapsychology at an international level”.
