The chairman of the BIAL Foundation, Luís Portela, was honoured with the Prémio Carreira com Propósito (Career with Purpose Award) for his more than four decades of leadership of the pharmaceutical company BIAL.
Roberta Medina, winner in 2024, handed over the award on 12 February during the awards ceremony for the companies with the most Purpose in Portugal, an initiative of Purpose Lab, in partnership with Relative Impact and Human Resources Portugal.
In his speech, the chairman of the BIAL Foundation spoke of the process of building servant leadership. “When we try to be useful to others, when we try to be kind, sympathetic, and available to help, sooner or later, life gives it back to us”. For Luís Portela, the leader must be the first to align his or her purpose with the organization's. "When we take a constructive stance, we attract positive energies and become the engine of disengagement", he said, emphasising that this purpose is improvement and evolution.
