Luís Portela, Chairman of the BIAL Foundation, was honoured by the City Council of Trofa on the 23rd Anniversary Session of the City. The tribute ceremony took place on November 19th, in the Auditório do Fórum Trofa XXI.
In this session Luís Portela received the Key of the City, distinction that was delivered for the first time and that is reserved to personalities who by their action and prestige have raised the name of the city.
The tribute to Luís Portela was based on “his personal, professional, business, civic and scientific curriculum, his national and international prestige, his notoriety in the Portuguese and international academic context, his enormous contribution to the development of science and research in Portugal and in the world, as Founder and Chairman of the Bial Foundation, and for having been the helmsman in the worldwide visibility of the largest Portuguese pharmaceutical company, BIAL, located in São Mamede do Coronado (Trofa), since 1996.”, says the City Council of Trofa in statement.
